Conversations – Marie McCormack “Cats”

by peterwjmiller on October 14, 2010

This is the first post in a new series of videos entitled “conversations”. I will be posting videos of anybody I find interesting or significant in any way.

I would like to start with the most significant and interesting person in my life; Marie McCormack aka “Grammie”. Grammie is my grandmother on my mom’s side. She is one of the smartest, most insightful, and strongest people I know. She is also incredibly soft spoken, gentle, and unable to harm a fly. I interviewed her on camera today for about an hour, hearing stories from the great depression, her days as a female accountant during World War II, and from many other chapters in her life. Most of what we talked about requires more family context and explanation than a single video clip with no edits can offer. After the interview ended, but before I turned off the camera, my sister Janna asked her to talk about a certain childhood story that involved teasing brothers and first degree pet murder. I hope the statute of limitations have expired on her crime; I don’t want to be responsible for Grammie serving hard time.

Without further adieu…
